The Kashmir Pashmina boasts traditional Ari embroidery specialized by our artisans in northern India. Our artists create fine, concentric chain stitched embroidery using a long hooked needle called a crewel. These skills are passed down generationally and resplendent in this gorgeous shawl. These skilled artists take 3-6months to finish each piece. The pure pashmina is acquired from the dense part of the sheep's wool and then hand embroidered in the Bargham District. By purchasing these pieces, you will be supporting Mohammed Akhram and his family.
The purity and fineness of this wool is what gives pashmina its signature feel-and what justifies its range in price.
How to Tell It’s Real Pashmina
• Soft, not slippery - feels warm and airy, never shiny or synthetic
• Subtle irregularities - slight variations from hand-spinning (a good sign)
• Warmth without weight - incredibly light, yet insulating
• Matte finish - authentic pashmina is never overly glossy
• Aging beautifully - softens over time, never pills excessively
True pashmina isn’t perfect..that’s how you know it’s real.
